Today I am learning a great deal about how to use our Google Drive. I am excited to show you what I have learned: like how to create a blog, embed a form, and find the right You Tube video to help when I get stuck.
Today I learned how to embed a Google Form into my Site page. A Google Form is a type of survey. See if you can find it on my web site. Hint... There are two!!
Here is the video I watched.

Dear Fifth Grader,
If you are feeling like summer is too short and reading this letter from your teacher is making it feel even shorter... try not to worry. You still have a few weeks of summer left! If you are starting to get a little bored and beginning to look forward to spending time with all your friends again and learning new things, welcome back! Either way, we will have lots of time for fun as well as learning this year.
Over the next few weeks see if you can find some sort of “mystery” object to share with your classmates. Look for something we can't easily identify, and we can inquire about and discover its secrets together. It can be man made or of the natural world. Be creative and search around or ask an adult for suggestions. My oldest son, Andrew, often found “treasures” in the river during his canoe trips. I will bring in some of his discoveries for our OTQ sessions. Hmmm, who remembers what OTQ means?
Now for some back to school basics. You do not need to buy any big, fancy trapperkeepers. They are too big for your desk and hard to keep organized. If you can get some pencils and tissues that will be enough to get started. We will share other materials in the classroom. You will also need one 1 ½” three ring binder for a portfolio of artifacts you will be keeping to show your successes and growth throughout the year. I will provide blue binders for your reading notebook and colored pocket folders for all your other subjects.
Have a great time for the rest of this month, and I will see you on Tuesday, August 26th. Don't forget about your summer reading book. We will talk about what you read the first few weeks.
See you soon,
